Quarter of all Brits consider themselves a hun
With so many Brits rejoicing in living a life of fabulousness and being unapologetically themselves, it’s clear that the UK is now hun-damentally a nation of good time gals (and guys).
New research* from Moonpig and Hunsnet, which gives a state of the nation look at the hun phenomenon, shows that over a quarter of Brits (27%)- now say they consider themselves to have hun tendencies. While the average person admits to having at least two huns in their life and almost half (45%) think that being labelled a hun is absolutely a trait to be celebrated!
Never one to shy away from a celebration, Moonpig and Hunsnet have teamed up to give the nation a new range of cards & gifts perfect for sending to all the huns in your life. The range aims to bring to life every element of hun culture which is best known for representing the relatable, flamboyant, and fun side of life, and is the ideal way to celebrate your most favourite hunnies!
Available exclusively on Moonpig from 13th July, the five new cards feature a range of gorge-y animal print designs, and include an ‘Ultimate Hun Birthday Checklist’ to inspire the most hun-filled birthday (a cheeky take-away and shots with the girlies are a MUST). Another features one of the most iconic phrases in hun culture – ‘You Do You Dallyn’, with the wording emblazoned against a hun-tastic yellow leopard print background, ideal for sending on any occasion.
And for those wanting to go the extra mile to spoil the hun in their life, the collaboration also includes a selection of gifts such as the ‘Spill The Tea Hun’ mug & ‘You Bouquet Hun’ multi-coloured bunch of blooms which are the perfect addition to any card from the range to make their day even more hun-tastic!
The survey, which polled over 2,000 Brits, revealed other interesting results from the peak hun age, to how Hunz celebrate their birthday, and where the home of the nation’s huns is.
Flirty 30 is peak hun age
The research deemed 30 to be the age Brits reach peak hun status according to 11% of respondents, and the start of a lifelong hun journey fuelled by pink, prosecco, and leopard print. However, other respondents to the survey picked ages from both ends of the scale – from as young as 18 to the grand old age of 90 – showing that hun-ism isn’t just defined to an age but is more a state of mind. To mark this milestone moment, the new range features a card in homage to this special age with an editable design which reads: ‘The Qween of Huns is turning 30’.
A hun-tastic birthday
Brits say top of the list for optimum hun enjoyment on their birthday is tucking into a delicious takeaway from Nando’s or Greggs (27%). Getting acrylic nails done for a big night out (20%) and getting the shots in (19%) came in at number three. In honour of these birthday essentials, one of the new cards features an ‘Ultimate Hun Birthday Checklist’ to inspire the most hun-filled birthday.
Not just for birthdays
Living like a hun is not just confined to birthdays but an all-year-round way of life for good time Brits, with 61% of us admitting to having at least one ‘hun’ trait. Top of the list of classic hun behaviour is wearing the old wardrobe classic – jeans and a nice top (21%) – followed by a hun haul at a high street retailer to stock up on toiletries (17%) with other activities such as prosecco drinking (13%) and watching daytime TV (11%) also included in the top 10. In homage to these traits a ’hun bingo’ card featuring key hun pastimes can be found on one of the brand-new card designs.
The nation’s number one hun
The research crowns fearless and fabulous Gemma Collins (21%) – known for giving the world phrases like “You ain’t ever gonna get this candy” – as the nation’s very favourite hun, followed by Stacey Solomon (20%) and Victoria Beckham (20%).
Home of the hun
The research was good news for Belfast and Newcastle, who can both claim to be the UK’s rightful home of huns, with more respondents than from any other city claiming they were a hun ‘through and through’ (11%).
Sarah-Jane Porter, Moonpig’s Global Design & Licensing Director commented: “We’re thrilled to have teamed up with Hunsnet – the ultimate authority of all things hun – for this brand-new range of cards. We know that hun culture is one that many people relate to, or even simply just enjoy engaging with, and so we think this range of cards perfectly encapsulates this movement. We hope it helps the huns of the nation celebrate their birthday – and many other occasions – in true hun style!
Gareth Howells, founder of Hunsnet adds: “Working with the Moonpig team has been so much fun! I got to put my design hat on and look through the archives to make the collaboration as Hun as it possibly could be, from our iconic leopard print design to some of my all-time favourite Hun catchphrases. It was a dream come true to create the range and it’s what all my dallyns out there need in their lives to spread the Hun joy to their nearest and dearest.”
The new Moonpig X Hunsnet range features a range of five brand new card designs, a multi-coloured bunch of flowers and mug. The mug has an RRP of £10 and the cards available in standard, large & giant sizes are priced from £3.89. You can also shop a wider range of gifts perfect for the hun in your life here.
