Following on from this, you might want to try to use this time to earn some money to enjoy over the holidays and for a financial boost once the new term starts. You can often get jobs such as pub jobs, cafe jobs, and shop work without previous experience or you could look to set up a freelance business in your career sector to get a head start on your career. Alternatively, you could raise money by selling old clothes online and  this can also free up some space in your wardrobe and reduce clutter.

You will also want to try and save money while waiting on your maintenance loan and there are several ways that you can do this. It is always a good idea to draw up a budget before the start of each term so that you can spread your money over the entire term and holidays, which should stop you from being broke at the end of the term and during the holidays. When you are at home, you could keep costs down by car sharing – just be sure to take out temporary car insurance for protection. You might even be able to persuade your parents to pay for your uni food shop before heading back for the new term!
