Returning home from uni? Many students head home for the holidays and this can be a strange experience once you have settled into student life. There is something special about coming home and it is a great chance to spend time with loved ones, but it can also bring a few challenges. This post will look at a few tips for returning home from unithat should help you to enjoy this time before heading back.

Switch Off From Uni

First, you want to make sure that you can switch off from uni. You want to use this opportunity to forget about deadlines, lectures, and presentations so that you can relax, recharge and enjoy time at home. If it is during the holidays, it is a great opportunity to catch up with school friends and you can enjoy updating each other on your new lives. It can be tough during the holidays as many students will be strapped for cash waiting for the next loan instalment, so you might want to consider things like going for walks, home movie nights, and playing board games to keep costs down.

Earn Money

Following on from this, you might want to try to use this time to earn some money to enjoy over the holidays and for a financial boost once the new term starts. You can often get jobs such as pub jobs, cafe jobs, and shop work without previous experience or you could look to set up a freelance business in your career sector to get a head start on your career. Alternatively, you could raise money by selling old clothes online and  this can also free up some space in your wardrobe and reduce clutter.

Save Money

You will also want to try and save money while waiting on your maintenance loan and there are several ways that you can do this. It is always a good idea to draw up a budget before the start of each term so that you can spread your money over the entire term and holidays, which should stop you from being broke at the end of the term and during the holidays. When you are at home, you could keep costs down by car sharing – just be sure to take out temporary car insurance for protection. You might even be able to persuade your parents to pay for your uni food shop before heading back for the new term!

Returning home at the end of term can be a great feeling and it is a chance to catch up with loved ones, but it can also be a strange and challenging time, especially because it is often a period without much money to spare!
