RLWC2021 TICKETS IN HIGH DEMAND AS TOURNAMENT TICKETS GO ON SALE TO RUGBY LEAGUE FANS

Ticket demand reached exciting levels for RLWC2021 on the first day of sales to the Rugby League Family after the Priority Access Sale officially opened at 09:00 today (Monday, 21 September 2020).

Thousands of excited Rugby League fans were queuing on the RLWC2021 official ticketing site before tickets went live and such was the desire to snap up tickets, organisers are suggesting that fans should book early to avoid disappointment.

RLWC2021 organisers confirmed that tickets had been purchased for every one of the 61 matches at next year’s showpiece event that will see the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments running concurrently for the first time ever.

In addition, there were large numbers of key workers logging on as applications opened for free tickets via rlwc2021.com/keyworkertickets. These tickets are being made available by tournament organisers as a ‘thank you’ for their tireless work in protecting and supporting local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ticketing highlights since the Priority Access Sale launch:

· Top selling bundles including the Opening Weekend – Newcastle Bundle and England Men’s Group Stage Bundle.

· The top 3 selling matches are currently:

o Women’s and Men’s double header final at Old Trafford, Manchester

o Opening match at St James’ Park, Newcastle featuring England v Samoa

o Men’s Semi Final at the Emirates, London

· Demand for tickets is being spearheaded domestically by the UK, but tickets have also been purchased by applicants from: Australia, France, the Netherlands and Ireland.

Jon Dutton, the RLWC2021 CEO said: “Ticket sales exceeded expectations today and I want to thank those that have bought the first tickets for their support and the belief they have shown in the tournament at a difficult time.”

“We are also thrilled that so many frontline key workers have taken up our offer to be part of the tournament. They are the real heroes of 2020 and we wanted them to know how much we appreciate their truly amazing efforts.”

“RLWC2021 is still 13 months away but will be the biggest and best in history and the fans – particularly the Rugby League Family – will be a central part of creating passion, civic pride and memories.”

Terri Lynam, Customer Director at RLWC2021 added: “We know that some fans faced a small wait this morning to access tickets. This was purely down to the massive number of Rugby League fans who wanted to ensure they could be at some of the ‘must-see’ games across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair events. The high demand for tickets and the support the Rugby League Family have shown today is incredible.”

“These are early days in the ticket sales journey but we still suggest that all those who want to be involved continue to secure their place at the event as soon as possible – before we open up access to the general public from 23 October.”
