ROYAL ASCOT HAT REALLY TAKES THE BISCUIT – VICKY PATTISON DRAWS A SMILE FROM ROYAL ASCOT RACE-GOERS WITH QUIRKY FASCINATOR

*** FREE FOR EDITORIAL USE *** Vicky Pattison attends the first day of Royal Ascot wearing a striking headpiece, featuring a giant cookie. The eye-catching headwear was designed by milliner to the stars, Victoria Grant, to celebrate the UK launch of Subway®'s new Footlong Cookie, from their Footlong Sidekicks range.

Today marked the first furlongs of Royal Ascot – with the fashion race also off to a flying start. Amongst the entries into the Ascot couture, TV personality and radio presenter, Vicky Pattison, kicked off a flurry of conversation among race-goers with her choice of headwear.

Spotted in eye-catching bespoke headwear that rivalled the most unusual of Ascot hats, Pattison wore a fascinator with a giant cookie at the centre – designed by milliner to the stars, Victoria Grant.

The quirky fascinator was designed to celebrate the launch of Subway®’s new ‘piéce de résistance’, a Footlong Cookie – which is part of the new Footlong Sidekicks range, and has just made its debut in UK restaurants after selling ‘like hot cakes’ when they were unveiled in the US earlier this year.

Known for her unconventional take on millinery, designer Victoria Grant brought the biscuit-themed fascinator to life. As a milliner to the stars, Vicky joins a list of famous faces who have been adorned with Grant’s creations, including: Madonna, Lady Gaga, Helena Bonham-Carter, Kylie Minogue and Beyonce.

TV personality and radio presenter, Vicky Pattison commented:

“I’ve always loved the creative and unique hats that you see at the races every year. And I thought it was such a fun idea to turn this ‘piéce de résistance’ of a giant footlong Subway® cookie into a piece of art. And the best part – I’ve even got a snack to share with my pals while we watch the racing action! Victoria nailed the design – it certainly ‘takes the biscuit’!”

The bespoke hat took weeks to design and create, featuring hand-dyed and sculpted plumes, signature crystal detail and a silk pleated bow surrounding the ‘crowning glory’, the footlong cookie.

Famous for their footlong Subs, Subway has now given a footlong twist to other treats on the menu with its recent launch of their new Footlong Sidekicks range. Alongside the Footlong Cookie – the perfect sweet to share with friends – the collection includes a Footlong Cinnabon® Churro and Footlong Dippers – complete with three hot and tasty fillings.

The Footlong Sidekicks range caused huge excitement when they launched in the US earlier this year and are now newly available in Subway restaurants nationwide.

Kirstey Elston, EMEA Brand & UK&I Marketing Director at Subway, said:

“Our guests have been asking for Footlong Sidekicks to come to the UK since they launched in the US earlier this year. What better way to make a splash than by celebrating their arrival at the event of the season, Royal Ascot. Victoria Grant brought our vision to life brilliantly and Vicky looked fantastic, creating a wearable piece of art that truly celebrates one of our most iconic products.”

To celebrate the longest day of the year on Thursday (20th June), Subway’s longest ever cookie will also be available to its Subway Rewards® members for the price of a regular one (79p) – as part of Subway’s ‘Footlongest Day Deal’.
