Royal commentator on Coronation claims.
Royal commentator Michael Cole says ‘we don’t yet know’ whether Harry and Meghan will attend the King’s Coronation amid a report claiming the couple have been invited.
Appearing on GB News, he said: “Only 84 days to go now, and 84 days of speculation. We’re all getting excited about it. I think what we can say definitely is that the King is playing a blinder. He’s allowed it to be known from the very beginning, that his second son and his son’s wife would be perfectly welcome to come to the Coronation. Now that leaves it to them, Harry and Meghan, to decide whether they can spare the time to leave California to come here on May 6th.
“Now, if they refuse, that will look a little bit petty and mean-spirited. But if they accepted, they would leave themselves open to the charge of hypocrisy, because they’ve been throwing far and wide accusations about various members of the royal family in books and on television.
He added: “We don’t quite know what they’re going to do. They say that they’ve said enough about the Royal Family, that they’ve cashed in sufficiently for the time being, but who’s to say they wouldn’t go back and gnaw the same old bone again? We need a sense of historical perspective. Things have been worse – when George the fourth was crowned in 1820, His wife, Queen Caroline, was barred from the ceremony and the poor woman was banging on the door of Westminster Abbey And when she died three, three weeks later, I mean, they lined the streets to send her off back to Germany.”
