Seven Sisters clinic manager takes on Crystal Palace half marathon for Kent children’s charity
Claire Rea, 35, is taking on the Crystal Palace half marathon this weekend to help raise funds for Kent charity Tree of Hope.
Claire said: ‘My niece is autistic and when I decided to run the half-marathon, I decided I wanted to raise money for a children’s charity which helps people like her.’
‘I liked the umbrella nature of Tree of Hope, that they help raise money for children with all sorts of different issues. I’ve raised nearly £2,000 – if I can hit the round figure by the weekend I’ll be delighted.’
‘It’s the first time I’ve done something like this, I’ve been doing guided training via an app – two or three 30 to 40 minute runs per week and then a longer one at the weekends.’
‘I’m looking forward to the event, and delighted to be helping a charity like Tree of Hope.’
Tree of Hope is a national children’s charity based in Kent which helps families fundraise for children with healthcare needs and provides charity status to benefit from gift aid, corporate support while also providing donor reassurance.
Tree of Hope CEO Gill Gibb said: ‘We are delighted that Claire has chosen to run on our behalf and wish her all the best with the half marathon.’
