Sons, Don’t Forget Mum: Survey Shows Nearly Half of You Have
WHILE WE’D all like to be labelled as the favourite child, it’s men who are least likely to gain the title as new research reveals they’re the most forgettable when it comes to remembering plans with their mums.
A new survey of 1,071 UK adults by the leading multi-store gift card, One4all Gift Cards, found that nearly half (49%) of the men surveyed confess to having forgotten a special or planned occasion with their mum, compared to only 31% of women.
It seems more than 1 in 5 (22%) men have even forgotten to send their mum a message, such as wishing her a happy birthday, while only 15% of women admit to doing this.
However, when it comes to Brits making it up to their mums, men are in fact the big spenders, as nearly 1 in 3 (31%) have spent £50 or more on their mum compared to only 19% of women.
Looking at how Brits spend this money, the most popular gifts and experiences included planning a lunch or dinner (37%), planning a surprise visit or meal (22%) or taking her for a spa day (13%).
Some gifts don’t cost the earth either and included going round to see her (37%), having a video call (22%) and making her breakfast in bed (13%).
