Stay sun safe on your Staycation as half of Brits admit to forgetting to apply sun cream in the UK
With foreign travel still hanging in the balance, 70% of us are set to enjoy our summer holidays in the UK this year[1]. But a staycation doesn’t mean we have to forgo the sunshine; June saw temperatures soar and we’re set for another heatwave this month.
So, sun screen should be top of our shopping lists, right? In fact, 50% of Brits have worryingly admitted they forget to apply sun cream when in the UK, rising from just 11% who forget to apply it when abroad[2].
This summer, Asda want to make sure the nation stays protected – whether they’re enjoying a tanning session in the Costa del Sol or the Costa del Southend – it’s crucial that Brits protect their skin from harmful SPF and UVA rays.
Asda’s Protect Cooling Clear Sun Mist SPF30 has seen off competition from beauty stalwarts like Nivea and Garnier to scoop the Best Protection and Best Value award in Which?’s annual sun cream test. The product was proven to be safe at protecting from both SPF rays – particularly dangerous to young children – and UVA rays, which can lead to premature ageing and even skin cancer.
In contrast, Garnier’s Ambre Solaire Clear Protect Spray SPF30 failed Which?’s UVA test twice and Nivea’s Kids Protect & Care SPF50+ failed the SPF test, falling far short of the SPF50 claim found on its packaging.
Nicola Scott, Asda’s Product Developer on Health & Beauty commented: “We are thrilled that our Protect Cooling Clear Sun Mist SPF30 has been proven to keep skin safe and marked as an industry leader in terms of both protection and value by Which?.
“No matter where we holiday this year, it’s so important to pack that sun screen and keep ourselves protected and we’re proud to have a range of products to suit all the family’s needs without breaking the bank.”
