Survey reveals the next James Bond according to the British fans
With Daniel Craig’s final appearance in “No Time To Die”, fans have eagerly been anticipating the announcement of the next actor to portray the legendary spy in the next James Bond film.
From seasoned veterans to rising stars, rumours have been circulating throughout the entertainment industry about who may be in the running for this coveted role.
Speculations have also been rife about whether the new James Bond will be a woman or a non-British established Hollywood name.
Although a continuation of the current storyline will be the most likely scenario for the next film, speculations have emerged as many believe now would be the right time and golden opportunity to reboot the franchise with a fresh take, a spin-off movie or a series based on other characters, as examples. A format and way forward for many other studios and cinematic universes, that the audience has become used to in recent years.
To get an understanding of what the British audience thinks of the current rumours, PartyCasino conducted a survey touching on who the fans would like to see as the new James Bond and their expectations for the franchise, moving forward.
The survey presented 33 British actresses and actors that the 1000 participants could vote for as the new 007, and here are some of the results from the 13 questions that the survey presented:
Out of 16 female actresses, Emily Blunt took the first place with 16.10% of the votes, followed by Jodie Comer at 14.50%, Emilia Clarke at 9.30% and Rachel Weisz at 9.00%
When asked which of the 17 male actors presented they would prefer to see as the new lead star, Tom Hardy got the most votes with 12.40%, followed by Henry Cavill at 11.80%, Richard Madden at 8.90%, Tom Holland 8.40% and James Norton at 8.00%.
Does the British audience rule out a foreigner portraying 007? Not entirely.
When asked how important it is that the actor will be British, 52.9% responded that they would prefer a British actor, but that the right actor is more important.
36.3% responded that they want James Bond to be portrayed by a British actor and 10.8% responded that it is not important at all.
When asked if the British accent is essential for the lead role, the results were similar with a marginally higher vote to “I want 007 to have a British accent”, at 38.9%
The survey also took a closer look at what was considered the best villains and gadgets from Daniel Craig’s Bond era and what the participants expect from the continuation of the franchise, regarding characters, what film elements to expect and if the next James Bond film should be a continuation of the previous storylines or if a standalone adventure would be out of interest.
