Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences launches new cocktail menu mid-Summer

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? TH@51 is launching a brand-new Courtyard Beverage Menu on 12th August, inspired by the hotel’s Shakespearean roots. Available to be enjoyed outdoors in the scenic courtyard, or inside the restaurant’s equally beautiful conservatory.

There are four delectable cocktails ready for your choosing: Swan of Avon with hints of bubble gum and exquisitely presented in a spectacular swan-shaped glass, Midnight Summer Dream with Blue curacao and is exceptionally served in a shell-shaped glass, Ophelia’s Muse which has hints of Cocchi Americano, and The Bard’s Elixir which has a gin and citrus base. Each cocktail is priced at £15 and is available from Monday 12th August at TH@51.

Every new cocktail on the menu has been created from the Shakespeare-inspired Sylvan-scene Frieze, where you can see different scenes from Shakespeare’s ‘Sylvian Plays’ such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado.

When dining in the hidden courtyard, guests are surrounded by one of the world’s longest Shakespearean-inspired frieze. This is depicted across the walls of Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences and St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel. The entire setting of the courtyard reflects secret Shakespearean stories which are waiting to be re-told. The courtyard’s cherub-adorned Victorian Fountain is the centrepiece of the secluded courtyard, which has also been restored to its former glory.

Historian Charles Allen describes the courtyard: “Topping this glittering green curtain is that monumental frieze – actually carved out of the brickwork – in which characters from Shakespeare’s plays endlessly disport themselves in scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Love’s Labours Lost, As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing. This and much more was the work of the Doulton Brothers of Lambeth, as famed in their day for their pottery and glazing, as JS Gardner was for his artistry in iron.”

TH@51 is a restaurant where diners enter a world of flavours with a creative spin. With cuisine on the menu which has been inspired by flavours around the world, TH@51 serves hearty meals meant to be shared. Guests can opt to sit inside the iconic glass conservatory which features a soft colour palette throughout, or can also enjoy dining alfresco in the picturesque courtyard.

To drink or not to drink? That is the question.
