TECHNOLOGY FIRM LAUNCHES MASTERCLASSES TO HELP PARENTS NOW ‘CRAMMING’ HOMESCHOOLING DUTIES

Today [24 February 2021] Manchester’s top tech company, Sync, is announcing the launch of HomeSchool – a series of free ‘how to’ classes aimed at helping the nation’s panicked parents, now cramming learning modules ahead of return to school.

Google data compiled by Sync reported a 110% increase in searches for ‘tutor’ in the 24 hours following the UK government’s announcement that schools will return in March, which suggests that parents are doubting their own ‘teaching’ abilities and are in need of some help.

HomeSchool will launch on tomorrow (25 February) via Zoom to help stressed parents supercharge their home schooling over the next two weeks. Each session will last up to 30 minutes and will provide parents with simple tools to kick start home-schooling, including simple fun and educational activities that will help kids get ready for a return to the classroom.

Each session will last up to 30 minutes and will provide parents with simple tools to revolutionise the home-schooling experience, including fun and educational activities that build on the work children are learning in school. The classes will also help parents to re-energise their kids ahead of a return to the physical claasroom.

Whether you are an IT Wizz or a complete beginner, the series will teach parents how to better use digital aids, such as iPads, how to master online searches and make home schooling sessions more fun and productive for all.

But parents need to be quick as places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, sign-ups for the courses can be accessed here.

HomeSchool is split into three age categories, covering primary, junior and secondary school learning for parents with children aged 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 years old.

The sessions will also feature a virtual noticeboard for parents to post about their experiences and offer advice to other parents on the course via Padlet.

Sync, formerly known as GBM, launched after increasing turnover from £77M in 2018 to £130M in 2020. Sync rebranded with three new online stores Sync:Pro, Sync:Gov and Sync:Ed following a £100,000 investment.

The new digital platform which includes a 24/7 e-commerce store and access to tech services, is designed to help businesses and the public education sector make the most of the challenges posed by new flexible working norms and at home learning.

Despite the challenges faced by many industries over the last year, Sync has managed to bring their innovative tech experience solutions to more customers than ever before, delivering over 110 free skills-based virtual training sessions to businesses and key workers in lockdown, helping them to navigate the shift from physical to remote technologies.

On the new HomeSchool initiative, Sync Commercial Director Chris Costello said: “Over lockdown, we’ve helped thousands of schools and businesses adapt to the new flexible and home working conditions.

“Now our aim is to make life easier for the thousands of parents who are juggling both their day jobs and homeschooling.

“We hope that with the right tech solutions, and training from some of the best educators in the business, parents will be able to make the most of their homeschooling experience”
