The British Film Designers Guild announces BEN as their headline partner for their 12th Production Design Awards and releases the long list of entries

The British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) have announced that their headline partner for their 12th Production Design Awards will be BEN, a leading entertainment AI that provides behind the scenes support to UK productions to ensure creative visions are met through prop and product placement. Additionally, BEN will also be sponsoring the Independent TV Drama and International TV Drama categories of the awards.

The awards ceremony, which celebrates the professionalism, creativity and skill in the Art Department, will take place on Saturday 18 February in the ballroom at the Londoner in London’s Leicester Square. This puts the BFDG’s awards firmly in the 2023 film and TV awards calendar alongside the likes of BAFTA, the Art Directors Guild of America and AMPAS.

Also today the BFDG has released the long list of entries for 11 of the 15 categories for the 12th Production Design Awards. This year has seen a record number of entries. There are 106 in total encompassing Commercials, Short Film, Television and Film. There has been a notable increase in the number of entries for Commercials and International TV Series this year. The BFDG’s Production Design awards have grown in size and status over the years, becoming an internationally recognised event amongst Art Department professionals and those associated with the Art Department within the film industry. Previous design winners have included Dune, Chernobyl, The Crown, Sex Education and 1917.

The winners will be decided by the BFDG membership. The first round of voting, to establish finalists, will open on 5 December until 1 January. The final vote, to decide the winners, opens on 6 January and closes on 29 January with the winners being announced on 18th February in the ceremony at The Londoner.
