The Royal Opera House is proud to present the next instalment of its #OurHouseToYourHouse programming, featuring free online broadcasts, musical masterclasses and cultural highlights that can be accessed by audiences for free anywhere, anytime.
We look forward to the next in our series of free online broadcasts, with the YouTube and Facebook premiere of Puccini’s Il trittico on Friday 5 June at 7pm BST. Richard Jones’s acclaimed 2011 production was the first complete performance of the trilogy of one-act works at Covent Garden since 1965.
Comprising Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, the triptych is one of contrasts. The first opera, Il tabarro, is a tale of jealousy and murder set aboard a barge on the Seine and stars Lucio Gallo as Michele, Eva-Maria Westbroek as Giorgetta and Aleksandrs Antonenko as Luigi. This is followed by Suor Angelica which tells the story of the nun Angelica’s familial loss and sacrifice and stars Ermonela Jaho in the title role. The final work, Gianni Schicchi, is full of trickery, greed and romance, and centres around a family dispute over a missing will and stars Lucio Gallo as Gianni Schicchi and Ekaterina Siurina as Lauretta. The Royal Opera Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House are conducted by Antonio Pappano.

The Royal Opera House’s Create and Learn offers free resources for families across the globe to explore the magical world of theatre from home. Our first six weeks of activities are available online, offering children and young people the opportunity to make their own model theatre, write a letter home from Wonderland, create a feet of flames dance, make a caterpillar puppet or even a snow machine and create their own storyboard.
Royal Opera House content continues to be available as part of our ongoing partnership with the BBC with The Royal Opera’s performance of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (2016) on BBC Sounds. Men at the Barre – Inside The Royal Ballet, a new behind-the-scenes documentary by Director Richard Macer, is available on BBC iPlayer. Showcasing the athleticism and lyricism of dancers including Matthew Ball, Cesar Corrales, Steven McRae, Vadim Muntagirov, Marcelino Sambé and Edward Watson, the documentary offers a unique insight into the life of a dancer. Also available on BBC iPlayer, is Romeo and Juliet: Beyond Words. This creative reimagining of Kenneth MacMillan’s seminal ballet features Royal Ballet dancers and is directed by multiple award-winning Michael Nunn and William Trevitt of BalletBoyz.
