The Lathums show us their roots in Under The Spotlight ahead of debut album
Menswear specialists scotts have celebrated Britain’s emerging wave of vital new music talent in their Under The Spotlight series, exploring the stories behind artists such as Jamie Webster and Sam Tompkins. Now The Lathums become the latest rising band to feature in the series ahead of the release of their debut album ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ on September 24th.
The Lathums take us on a guided tour of their hometown of Wigan, focusing on the places that have played a big part in their rise to date. Starting in their rehearsal room and creative space, the quartet return to The Tipping Arms, the pub where they played their formative gigs, visit Wigan Market, where they filmed the a cappella performance of ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’, and reflect on the town’s rich music heritage.
The band – fronted by vocalist/guitarist Alex Moore – are styled throughout in a range of new clothing and trainer designs from Adidas Originals. The renowned sportswear brand has always been a favourite choice for musicians spanning all kinds of genres, its famous three stripes becoming more iconic with each passing year. All of the items that The Lathums wear throughout the video are available from scotts.
The Under The Spotlight video adds to a big summer for The Lathums. In May, they were part of the historic first COVID-19 pilot gig when they played to an audience of 5000 people at Sefton Park, Liverpool, with Blossoms and Zuzu. They then documented the show with the ‘Live From Sefton Park’ album. Most recently, they launched the pre-order for ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ by sharing its lead single and title track, and hosted a stall at Wigan Market, which saw fans queuing around the block to get in.
The Lathums embark upon a major headline tour at the end of September. Highlights include a huge Manchester show at the O2 Victoria Warehouse plus a London show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town.
