THE LONDON EDITION KICKS OFF ITS MONTHLY ART TOUR AND SUPPERCLUB SERIES- ART AFTER HOURS- WITH ASHLEIGH KANE
Art After Hours- The London EDITION’s monthly gallery tour- is back this February with the option to join an exclusive supper club in Berners Tavern beforehand.
The London EDITION enters 2024 with a renewed Art After Hours, a series of intimate monthly gallery tours curated and led by renowned editor, writer, and consultant Ashleigh Kane. Taking place ‘after public opening hours’, guests gain a private tour of some of Fitzrovia’s most exciting gallery exhibitions. Ashleigh has carefully picked each tour stop to ensure a breadth of practices and perspectives from emerging and established artists.
This year, The London EDITION is delighted to offer an enhanced evening experience with two tiers of tickets. For £50 guests can opt to join Ashleigh at 5.30pm sharp for an introduction to the art over a – 2 course menu – Early Berners Menu – plus a glass of wine or soft drink served in the Private Dining Room. Regular tickets are still available for £15 for those who opt to solely enjoy the tour. Both groups will meet at The London EDITION lobby where they will be led by Ashleigh to their first stop at 6:30 PM sharp.
On Wednesday, February 7th, the evening will commence with a short walk to Des Bains to witness a two-person multi-disciplinary show featuring the works of Benjamin Orlow and Nour El Saleh, where guests will enjoy the harmonious combination of Orlow’s world of sculpture and moving images with El Saleh’s use of painting, exploring notions of place, selectivity, and relative memory.
The tour will continue onto A Mirror to Vanity at Brooke Benington, a group exhibition featuring artworks subverting initial impressions for a deeper, even darker, revelation. The show is inclusive of six artists – Richard Dean Hughes, Laura Lancaster, Lyle Perkins, Glen Pudvine, Maria Szakats, and Katie Tomlinson – who employ familiar imagery, popular culture, art historical references or humour to entice the viewer and then expose them to more serious reflections upon further examination.
The tour will end at Tristan Hoare, for the group show Apocalypse Now. The show taps the dark, brooding, foreboding time which we currently find ourselves in – both in winter and otherwise. Taking its title from Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 film, arguably his greatest, the show navigates through the mood and anxieties of today, while incorporating elements of magic, beauty, and mystery.
