THE NATION SPENDS OVER 5 MILLION HOURS SNOOZING ALARMS EACH DAY NEW RESEARCH REVEALS

Britain is a nation of snoozers, spending a collective FIVE MILLION HOURS* delaying their alarms each day, with the act of ‘snoozing’ becoming more popular with each generation – 75% of those age 18-34 regularly hit snooze, compared to 66% of 45-54-year-olds – according to new data.

The research, commissioned by Naked to celebrate the launch of its new breakfast smoothie, Naked Strawberry Zing, revealed that despite over half (58%) of UK alarm users regularly hitting the snooze button, the majority (67%) live to regret it.

The act leaves snoozers feeling frustrated that they didn’t just get up (20%), more tired than when they first woke up (17%), regretful of the time lost (13%) rushed to get out the door (9%) and panicked about the day ahead (8%).

According to the data, a third (32%) of UK adults struggle to get out of bed in the morning, with those under 34 struggling more (40%) than their older cohorts of 35–54-year-olds (32%) and 55+ (27%).

However, as we welcome in the new year, three quarters (73%) of Brits have set intentions to adopt better morning habits in 2022. One in five (21%) want to have a regular morning routine, while a further fifth (20%) want to do more morning workouts, and an additional 17% plan to avoid skipping breakfast.

In light of the findings, Naked Smoothies is partnering with Diversity dance star, Kiss FM Breakfast Show host and all round ‘morning person’, Perri Kiely, to empower the nation to boost their mornings and get the best out of every day.
The collaboration with Perri follows the recent launch of Naked Strawberry ZING, a new strawberry and banana smoothie with a zingy twist of raspberry, bringing drinkers a delectable boost of fruity boldness to breakfast time.

Perri Kiely’s Top Four Hacks for Bolder Mornings:

Morning mindfulness

With my schedule being non-stop, it’s hard to find a minute for myself. However, over the years I’ve found mindfulness sets me up for a more productive day. I practice it when travelling to and from work by consciously taking some deep breaths and just taking the time to drink in my surroundings before the day gets started. I’m in London a lot and always forget how epic the sights are, so first thing in the morning it’s great to just embrace it and feel grateful for where I am.

Pre-breakfast boost

When I need to be up super early for my radio show or other work commitments, I don’t always have time to sit down and enjoy breakfast before I leave the house. However, as a dancer, I know I need fuel my body so I have the energy to move, so I always have a smoothie such as Naked Strawberry Zing ready in the fridge that I can drink on the way to my breakfast show. It’s perfect for giving me a morning boost of fruity boldness first thing before I grab breakfast at work.

Catching your Zs

I have to be up pre 5am each morning so making sure I have a good sleep is essential. There are a few things I do to make sure that I’m getting as much shut eye as possible. Sleeping in a cold room definitely helps me. I have my windows wide open even in winter (much to my girlfriend’s dismay) and I also enjoy listening to some ambient sounds through my speakers to drift off. Rain on a tent is currently top of my playlist!

Moving in the morning

As a dancer, I’m lucky enough to be moving a lot of the time. However, I still like to give myself a warmup before the craziness of the day ahead. I like to do the Cobra stretch as soon as I wake up (lie on your stomach and place your hands flat beneath your shoulders!) as it just loosens everything up. Also, if I’m not behind schedule sometimes I’ll do a quick TikTok dance. One of my favourite morning moves is The Woah as it’s perfect for releasing any tension in the body.

Getting a drink (28%) is listed as one of the first thing Brits will do to help wake themselves up once out of bed. Naked Strawberry ZING is a great source of vitamin C (which contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue), giving drinkers the perfect ‘zing’ to begin each day.

Available in both 750ml (£3.29 RRP) and 360ml (£2.60 RRP) bottles, it is perfect for sharing around the table or for those with early morning schedules such as radio host Perri, when breakfast needs to be on-the-go. Naked Strawberry Zing is available in 750ml (£3.29 RRP) and 300ml (£2.60 RRP) bottles at Tesco, with the 750ml bottle also available at Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Co-op and Nisa.
