The Welsh spend more than anyone else on hen an stag parties

The Welsh spend more than anyone else on hen an stag parties, according to new research published today.

In fact, Aberystwyth partygoers spend significantly more than anyone else in the UK, with the average spend on hen or stag nights among those from the Welsh town hitting £262.

Compare that with second-placed Swansea (£196) or third-placed Leeds (£183). The national average spend on a stag or hen party is even less, coming in at £147, according to the research by fashion brand I Saw It First to celebrate the launch of its latest hen do collection on May 10th.

In a reversal of the foreign stag and hen do trend, many Brits say they now want to keep it local. Indeed, England (10%) is the second most popular stag and hen do destination for Brits, with Amsterdam (10%) coming in third.

Wedding guests know what they like from a wedding ceremony too. The reveal of a bride’s dress has been voted as the most iconic moment of a wedding (34%) with the reception dinner (20%) being chosen as the second favourite moment of a wedding.

Upstaging the bride and groom is never a good idea, says Britain. More than three quarters (86%) of the nation make sure to go out of their way to not look better than either the bride or groom on their special day.

Plan your outfit carefully, though. Almost half of the UK (44%) admit they’d be fuming if they turned up to a wedding in the same outfit as another guest.

Weddings, stag and hen dos are the one occasion where Brits are more than happy to splash out. One in 10 Brits (10%) are happy to spend the same amount on a hen do or stag do as an annual summer holiday and 40% of wedding guests spend over £100 on a new wedding outfit for the big day.

Bryony Frith, Marketing Manager from I Saw It First, said: “Britain loves a hen and stag do and a great wedding. Over a quarter of women (27%) want a luxury spa day to celebrate a hen do, but a weekend away comes out on top as the nation’s favourite way to celebrate impending nuptials (29%).

“When it comes to splashing the cash, women are more likely to spend more – 1 in 10 saying they’re happy to spend over £199 on a hen do away.”

Although the hen and stag parties may cost a fortune, your outfit doesn’t have to. I Saw It First’s Hen Do collection is now available to shop on the website here: https://www.isawitfirst.com/collections/miss-molly-x-i-saw-it-first-the-hen-do-edit
