‘There are just things Royals just don’t do, and this is certainly one of them.’
PRINCE Harry has been ill-advised and has likely opened up a “hornet’s nest” by testifying in his court case against the publisher of the Daily Mirror, according to King Charles’ former butler.
Grant Harrold told GB News: “I think people, when you hear these kinds of things being said about them, it wouldn’t surprise me if they retaliate or say something in response. But this is the problem, it’s almost [like he’s] opened up a hornet’s nest…I’d have advised him not to do this.
“The best thing for him to do is to continue to lead his private life that he wanted in the States because, as I said, I understand that he obviously feels strongly about this, but there are just things that Royals just don’t do, and this is certainly one of them.
“You don’t have a member of the Royal Family in a court testifying. It’s just not the done thing.”
In a discussion with Mark Longhurst during GB News Live, he continued: “I’m not surprised that the King advised him against it…he’s brought the Government into it as well.
“These are just things that they don’t do, because they keep away from this. It’s not advisable for the monarchy to be doing this kind of thing.
“And even though a lot of people say he’s no longer part of the Royal Family, he is still a counsellor of state. He is fifth in line to the throne, and he is the son of the king, so it’s quite damaging what’s going on.”
Mr Grant added: “At the end of the day, I was lucky enough to get to know them, they’re human beings like you and me. They hurt, they cry, they laugh, like everyone else, but I think maybe this is a sign of things to come, maybe members of the Royal Family being attacked, they may need to defend themselves.
“Maybe they will, maybe this is just the start of how it’s going to be with members of the Royal Family.”
