These are the most influential wedding dresses of the year, from Nicola Peltz to Stacey Solomon

A new study has revealed the most popular celebrity wedding dresses of 2022 with Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress taking the top spot.

The research conducted by fabric experts Dalston Mill Fabrics analysed Google search data from the beginning of 2022 to establish which celebrity wedding dress caused the biggest rise in searches for wedding dresses.

The study revealed that Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress caused the biggest rise in searches for wedding dresses in the United Kingdom. Searches for ‘wedding dress’ skyrocketed 194% above average on the day Nicola Peltz wed Brooklyn Beckham. The ceremony, which took place on April 9th, 2022, saw Peltz wear a custom Valentino gown made with a silk-satin fabric.

The second most popular celebrity wedding dress of 2022 wasn’t worn as part of a wedding, but rather on the red carpet for this year’s Met Gala. Kylie Jenner wore a wedding dress designed by Off-White in honour of the late Virgil Abloh. Jenner’s ensemble caused searches for ‘wedding dress’ to spike 182% above the average search volume.

Kourtney Kardashian wore the third most popular wedding dress of the year with her satin corset mini dress causing searches for ‘wedding dress’ to rise 167% above average. The dress was designed by Italian designers, Dolce & Gabbana for the ceremony that saw the eldest Kardashian sister wed Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker.

Causing a 158% rise in searches for ‘wedding dress’ was Britney Spears’ wedding dress. The fourth most popular wedding dress was designed by Donatella Versace and featured a portrait neckline and pearl buttons. Spears’ Instagram post featuring the dress gained a massive three million likes on the social media platform.

In fifth place is Stacey Solomon’s wedding dress which she wore during her ceremony to Joe Swash. The ceremony was held in the couple’s hometown of Essex with the bride wearing a white gown with a corset top, a long flowing skirt, and spaghetti straps with draped sleeves. Searches for ‘wedding dress’ skyrocketed 152% above average amid Stacey and Joe’s wedding.

Carrie Johnson’s wedding dress is the sixth most popular of the year, causing a 150% increase in searches for wedding dresses. Carrie Johnson and her husband, former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson threw a formal reception celebration after lockdown where Carrie wore an ivory tulle dress.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson from Dalston Mill Fabrics said: “A wedding is one of the most important days in someone’s life and for many brides, picking a wedding dress is one of the biggest decisions that surround the occasion. This study offers a fascinating insight into the dress styles that have proved popular this year and it will be interesting to see if these styles continue to remain as influential in 2023.”
