THREE-PHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE: CHRIS GETS ON HIS BIKE FOR THE CONNECTION
Chris Canning, Head of Practice CX and Intelligence for Hortor, the global strategic resourcing specialists with UK offices in Leeds and London, will take on a three-phased charity challenge when he attempts to cycle a total of 336 miles in support of The Connection in St Martin-in-the-Fields, a homeless organisation supporting rough sleepers in London.
The first ride will take place on Wednesday 19 June and will see Chris cycle from London to Brighton and back again, which is a 108-mile round trip. He will then get back into the saddle in mid-July for a 128-mile journey from London to his home town of Spalding before finally completing his three phased charity challenge on 4 August when he takes part in RideLondon, which is a 100-mile road race.
Hoping to raise £1,200 for The Connection, London’s busiest homeless charity that supports more people than any other away from the streets through specialist services, Chris is asking friends, family and colleagues to dig deep and to show their support for a very worthy cause.
Chris comments: “There is a real focus on charity at Hortor and having seen some of my colleagues from the Leeds office do some great work, I thought that I would set myself a challenge that would allow me to push myself physically while also raising money for a great cause.
“Having partnered with The Connection in St Martin-in-the-Fields previously, I know that they have great vision and work incredibly hard to get people off the streets. Working onsite with them was a real experience and knowing that they offer long-term support that can lead to housing, employment and independence for people that really struggle makes me even more committed to reaching my target.”
Chris joins colleagues from across the Hortor business that take part in year-round efforts to raise money for charities that mean something to them. As an example, Daniela Kroulíková will climb all seven of the world’s tallest summits with partner, Samuel, to raise money for ex-servicemen that are struggling with a range of problems including anxiety, money worries, family problems and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
