#TOGETHERBAND LAUNCHES CLEAN POWER CAMPAIGN TO INSPIRE A NATIONWIDE GREEN ENERGY MOVEMENT

#TOGETHERBAND is pleased to announce the launch of Clean Power, a pioneering campaign to support the international drive to bring carbon dioxide emissions to net zero by 2050 and give planet earth the best possible chance of limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5°C. Nearly three quarters of greenhouse gas emissions come from the energy we use to power our lives. Clean Power aims to raise critical awareness of the fossil fuels crisis and provide clear, affordable and tangible clean energy solutions to individuals and businesses alike during this global energy emergency.

Art installations featuring the words ‘CLEAN POWER’ and ‘SUN, SEA, AIR’ are featured in key locations throughout Glasgow, including 40 flags stationed along the iconic Scottish Canals. Designed by Morag Myerscough and created from recycled ocean plastic, the installations feature a URL and QR codes which lead to cleanpower.eco. Here, visitors will be able to learn energy saving tips and why we need to accelerate investment into renewables, as well as how to help build a wind farm for as little as £25. Cleanpower.eco will also provide key scientific advice from climate experts on how governments can best tackle the climate crisis to ensure the most positive future for all: banning fossil fuels, transitioning to electric vehicles, supporting developing countries and ending deforestation.

“We are facing a climate crisis but we can’t afford to scare people into feeling that all is already lost. It isn’t. We want this campaign to showcase groundbreaking solutions that offer real change for the planet and enable everyone to feel actively involved in creating a climate positive future. Morag’s feel-good, vibrant work can help inspire and our innovative partnership with Ripple offers households and businesses an affordable way to help build a new wind farm and provide clean low-cost electricity directly to them, giving renewable energy a long-term future”. Oliver Wayman, Founder of Clean Power and Co-Creator of #TOGETHERBAND

The Clean Power campaign, in partnership with UBS and Ripple, a clean energy ownership platform that enables people to part own large scale wind farms, will launch in Glasgow ahead of COP26 and run throughout November. It will then travel to different cities across the UK, culminating with 100 flags that will run along London’s Regent Street, launching on Earth Hour, March 2022. In line with the Glasgow launch, #TOGETHERBAND will simultaneously open a Clean Power pop-up on Regent Street, which will be an interactive space that unpacks the aims of the campaign and information around UN Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, hosting panel discussions and events. JCDecaux UK will help raise awareness of the campaign even further by sharing it through their public screens, empowering people to make the responsible choice for our future.

Morag Myerscough’s strong visual aesthetic is instantly recognisable and her ambition is to create a sense of joy and belonging for all those who encounter it. Myerscough’s work is designed to capture attention, inspire action and create change. “My work is synonymous with bold colours and powerful positive messaging. It is so wonderful to see iconic sites filled with colour and hope. With this work I wanted to put out an optimistic approach towards our future, if we work together we can help make the changes we need to happen. The oranges, greens and blues represent the sun, sea and air that we need to power ourselves to a renewable future.” Morag Myerscough, Artist.
