Tom Bailey extends Lancashire stay until 2026
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that Tom Bailey has signed a new contract at Emirates Old Trafford until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Bailey finished this season with 50 red ball wickets and as Lancashire’s leading wicket taker in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship for a third successive summer.
The 32-year-old seam bowler has made 166 appearances for the Red Rose since making his debut in 2012, taking 434 wickets across all three formats.
Bailey has excelled with the red ball with which he has picked up 358 wickets at an average of just 23 – with 15 five wicket hauls. His best figures were a stunning 7-37 during the season-ending Championship win over Hampshire at Liverpool in 2021.
A graduate of Lancashire’s Academy and Scholarship programmes, Bailey has become a leader of the Club’s bowling attack in County Championship cricket and also served as captain in the One-Day Cup during the 2021 season.
Speaking about his new contract, Tom Bailey said: “I am really pleased to extend my association with my home county by another three seasons after signing this contract until 2026.
“The bowling unit here at the Club is outstanding and I really enjoy being able to lead from the front with the new ball and hopefully set an example and show the standards to our younger players.
“As a squad, we have shown a great level of consistency with our performances for the last few years, and I want to play my part in helping us to bring some long-awaited silverware back to Emirates Old Trafford.”
Director of Cricket Performance, Mark Chilton commented: “Tom has shown an outstanding level of consistency for several seasons now and we are glad to have secured his services for at least the next three seasons.
“He is one of the best operators with a new ball in county cricket and to have reached 50 County Championship wickets in each of the last three seasons is no easy feat.
“To have tied down our leading wicket taker from last season in Tom and our leading run scorer in Josh Bohannon to long-term contracts until 2026 is great news for the Club as we move forward.”
