TOP TEN VALENTINE’S DAY STAINS REVEALED
As Valentine’s Day fast approaches, Brits are getting ready to celebrate the most romantic day of the year with their loved ones.
Whether that’s feeding each other chocolates, having breakfast in bed, or enjoying a candlelit meal, love will truly be in the air. However, as couples get lost in each other’s eyes, their attention may be compromised, leading to unfortunate accidental spills and stains.
So, to help the hopeless romantics out there, cleaning and laundry experts, Dr. Beckmann have identified the top stains that are bound to occur this Valentine’s Day and how to sweep those stains off their feet.
Dr. Beckmann spokesperson, Chloe Baker said: “The last thing anyone wants to do is spend Valentine’s Day on their hands and knees, cleaning up a stubborn stain! Luckily, we’ve put together our top tips to banish those unsightly Valentine’s Day stains and keep your romantic evening enjoyable.
“Red wine is a common tipple that is enjoyed between two on Valentine’s Day, however after a few glasses the night can quickly turn messy. If you have an unfortunate spillage, make sure to blot the alcohol with a cloth until the liquid is absorbed, then sponge with cold water. Dr. Beckmann’s Upholstery Stain Remover is great to have in the cupboard ready and waiting to tackle those unfortunate spillages.
“Candles ooze romance and set the mood for a picturesque evening, but they can easily ooze onto the carpet if left unattended. To tackle a spillage, allow the dripped wax to harden, then place an absorbent paper towel over the stained area and iron on a low heat – the wax should then transfer over to the paper towel, leaving you to finish off with a stain remover.
“Everyone loves a box of chocolates, especially on Valentine’s Day, but this sweet treat can soon turn sour if it’s smeared into the carpet or sofa. To tackle, scrape any excess chocolate off the stain before treating and then blot the mark with a damp cloth. If the stain is a difficult one, soak in a mixture of one part white vinegar, one part water and 1/4 cup of washing detergent, and leave to soak into the stain overnight before scrubbing.
“Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to pucker up and share a kiss with your loved one, so lipstick stains are inevitable. Simply remove any excess and dab at the stain with a damp cloth or a baby wipe. Once this has been done apply a stain remover and the stain should come right out.
“Some couples might even decide to experiment with massage oils as a Valentine’s Day treat. While these products may be fun to use, the cleaning aftermath can often be a nightmare. If you end up with oil on your clothing, make sure to blot out as much of the oil as soon as possible, don’t rub the stain as this will just push the grease deeper into the fabric fibres.
“For extra stubborn stains, sprinkle some baking soda on the blemish, along with dish soap, and then scrub with a toothbrush. Let it rest and then rinse in hot water, once the stain has disappeared, pop your clothes into the machine, with one of Dr. Beckmann’s Magic Leaves Laundry Detergent Sheets for an extra-fresh and clean feel.”
“We hope these top tips help all the lovebirds out there enjoy a stain-free Valentine’s Day and ensure their night of romance doesn’t turn into an everlasting messy affair!”
