Torabhaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky partners with Fire + Wild to bring the essence of Skye to Sussex

The Distillery at Torabhaig creates whisky that explores and represents the beautiful and dramatic – or ‘elegantly rugged’ – landscape of its home on the Isle of Skye. This September Torabhaig will bring this whisky-making inspiration south of the border for the first time with a unique whisky pairing menu using the best of Skye produce, created in partnership with the team at outdoor dining experience Fire + Wild in East Sussex.

Available to book now for a one-of-a-kind dining experience on the 23rd September 2022, the bespoke five course pairing menu will highlight the uniquely smoky, well-tempered peat that characterises Torabhaig. Guests will journey ‘off-grid’ to a stunning woodland setting where they will witness chef Mark Andrews create a series of dishes to complement the depth and complexity found in every dram of Torabhaig whisky, using an open fire and old Torabhaig casks to smoke and infuse the food, with guests being transported from East Sussex to The Isle of Skye through every taste.

Shaped by Skye, Torabhaig whisky is a product of the dramatic landscape in which it is produced, from the local burns (streams), Allt Gleann and Allt Breacach, that supply water to the distillery, to the team of nine distillers from the local area that make it. Even the distillery itself is shaped by its environment, built to fit within the traditional coastal farmstead that houses it. The whisky is a true expression of everything that makes the Isle of Skye so unique. The bespoke menu, carefully created with Fire + Wild’s Chef Mark Andrews, will take inspiration from this landscape, using local Skye produce and drawing attention to the smoky, maritime flavour that characterises Torabhaig whisky.

Continuing Torabhaig’s quest to find the balance between strength and refinement and elegance and robustness, the carefully curated five-course menu will embody the whisky’s journey to create a distinctive style and legacy that will be known worldwide. By incorporating the woodfire technique Fire + Wild will bring to life the smoky tones of the whisky whilst incorporating perfectly paired delicate plates to showcase how both intricacies can live side by side.

The menu will include five courses cooked in front of guests over the fire and will be served with plenty of whisky! A welcome drink will pair Torabhaig Allt Gleann with soda in a highball, while drams and cocktails will be served throughout. Part of the Torabhaig legacy series, Allt Gleann is the second release from Torabhaig in the journey to its first 10-year-old bottling in 2028.

The five-course bespoke tasting menu will be available on Friday 23rd September only, priced at £150 per person from 1-4pm. It will take place in a woodland area just outside Lewes, East Sussex.
