VICTORIA Beckham deserves praise for succeeding in the fashion business against the odds, according to her friend Davina Taylor.
She was commenting on reports about Victoria business achieving a profit for the first time in over a decade.
Davinia told GB News: “I’ve known Victoria for many, many years, and I’m really pleased now that she’s turning a profit with her fashion empire, because I felt like the whole of Britain was against her succeeding.
“It was like, ‘oh, she’s got everything, why is she doing this?’ She’s not a qualified designer, but boy is her stuff fabulous and she’s kind of accessed that market by doing accessories and makeup.
“I’m really pleased to see a British woman, fighting the good cause and having a successful business because it’s a very toxic place for women to be in business and particularly [because] she was a singer, she was a performing artist.
“And so just to change direction was fabulous and to stick with it and to fight the fight and do something that she believes in.”
In a discussion with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster on GB News, she added: “The backlash was really unfair.
“She’s obviously been around fashion all her life and that’s her passion and just because she went in a different direction to what she was known for, she got a real backlash.
“I’m really happy for her. I just wish she’d do a collaboration with someone like H&M so everyone could get it.”
She added: “As you evolve as you get older, something takes your fancy.
“I’m now in the well-being industry and I really get behind what I talk about, but I started off as an actor and that is the opposite of well-being I can assure you.”
