‘We love Eamonn – Eamonn’s Eamonn’ says under-fire This Morning boss

UNDER-FIRE This Morning editor Martin Frizell has playfully praised Eamonn Holmes following an interview in which the GB News host blew the lid on the “toxic” culture on the ITV programme.

He made his first comments on the scandal to Dan Wootton Tonight producer Ben Leo who questioned Mr Frizell after today’s show was broadcast.

On claims made by Eamonn Holmes about the toxic culture on the programme, Mr Frizell said: “We love Eamonn – Eamonn’s Eamonn.”

Asked how he did not know about Mr Schofield’s young lover when he was on stage with him at the National Television Awards ceremony, Mr Frizell said: “That’s a good statement that came out from Carolyn, so I’ll just stick with it.”

He added: “Everything will be made public. It was a really good statement.”

That was a reference to a letter by ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall to Ofcom and the chair of the Commons media committee which said an investigation did not find any evidence of a relationship.

Asked if he had anything more to say, Mr Frizell said: “Not really. I’m off the clock. We’ve done the show.”
