WELLINGBOROUGH PUPILS TO WELCOME NEW RESIDENTS TO NEIGHBOURHOOD FOLLOWING CARD COMPETITION
Following a greetings card design competition with Barratt and David Wilson Homes, two imaginative pupils from Wilby CofE Primary School in Wellingborough are spreading joy to residents at the homebuilder’s new development.
As part of a ‘Welcome Home’ campaign, the housebuilders reached out to the school nearby to its development Wendel View in Wellingborough, for the help of the school children in designing greeting cards to be handed out to new homebuyers.
Local pupils Grace and Zoe were crowned the winners of the competition and will both see their cards printed and delivered to new residents, in addition to receiving a £30 gift card.
All 50 entrants of the competition received a selection box of chocolate, and the school also received a £200 voucher as a thank you for all of the children’s entries.
Lisa Pearce, Head Teacher at Wilby CofE Primary School, said: “The children have really enjoyed taking part in this competition, they worked really hard on the wonderful designs. It is a privilege to know our school will have a part in welcoming new residents to Wendel View.”
The scheme aims to provide a warm welcome to those who have recently moved to the neighbourhood, whilst also highlighting key information about the local area.
The theme of the county-wide Barratt and David Wilson Homes greetings card competition is ‘all things home-related’, encouraging local children to be as creative as possible, adding in pictures and details about the suburb they live in.
Jason Hearn, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “It’s important to us to make new residents feel welcome as they join our new communities, and we’re thankful to the pupils of Wilby CofE School for helping us to do just that.
“Purchasers moving into their new homes is a great opportunity for greetings cards to be distributed and receiving a personal message from a local school pupil will really put a smile on their faces.
“We received a variety of inventive entries as part of the Welcome Home campaign and it was a difficult task choosing our winners, however we hope this project has inspired the imaginations of the children involved.”
Wendel View will provide excellent commuter links for working professionals being less than three miles away from Wellingborough train station. With the A6 and A45 also being close by, there are links direct to Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford.
There are many attractions near the countryside development, including Rushden Lakes shopping centre and leisure complex which provides the perfect escape for those looking to experience new activities. There are also Ofsted rated ‘Good’ schools nearby.
