Will Matt Hancock face most Bushtucker trials ever?
As Matt Hancock enters I’m a Celebrity fans of the show are wondering if he’ll join a list of some of its most notorious contestants – those who have faced more Bushtucker trails than anyone else.
Reality TV fans at MotivePR.co.uk have crunched the numbers to come up with a definitive top ten list of contestants who’ve done the most challenges in the programme’s 20 year history – but say they think Mr Hancock could end up topping the chart.
The public are expected to vote in their thousands for Mr Hancock to face challenges with many commentators already saying he could be made to do more Bushtucker trials than anyone else.
But the former Health Secretary will have to be tough if he’s to make the Bushtucker Top Ten with at least eight trials required just to make the bottom of the list.
Former soap actor Adam Thomas tops the chart after facing 12 trials when he appeared on series 16 of the show.
Reality star and presenter Scarlett Moffatt, ex-model Janice Dickinson, presenter Joel Mommatt and actor Jacqueline Jossa make up the rest of the top five having all completed an impressive ten Bushtucker trials each when they appeared in the jungle.
The rest of the Top Ten is made up of socialite Georgia Toffolo, author Lady Colin Campbell, soap star Jorgie Porter, radio host Roman Kemp, and TV presenter Kate Garraway complete the top ten with eight trials each.
Matt Hancock could soon face his first trial after entering the jungle earlier than expected following the surprise departure of Olivia Attwood.
But some commentators are already suggesting he may fail to complete as many trials as expected after it emerged he may be medically exempt from some challenges.
Jack Proverbs, from MotivePR.co.uk, who conducted the research, said Mr Hancock had the potential to face more trials than any other contestant in the show’s 20 year run.
He said: “Matt Hancock is probably the most famous contestant in there right now. In his own way he’s better known than even Boy George.
“He has had an incredibly large profile over the past couple of years and was appearing in our living rooms on a daily basis during the pandemic.
“The way he lost his job after it emerged he had broken his own rules was a massive talking point across the nation.
“A lot of people were very angry with him at that time and there has also been a lot of controversy over his decision to take part in the programme while still working as a backbench MP.
“Many will regard the opportunity to make him face a Bushtucker challenge as their chance to watch him squirm. That’s why we are anticipating a massive public vote for him to do the challenges.
“The only things that could end up stopping him from topping our list and becoming the biggest Bushtucker challenger ever would be if he’s ruled out for medical reasons or if he’s voted off the show early – which is definitely something which could happen.
“From ITV’s point of view he is a brilliant choice of contestant as millions of us know who he is and many will be happy to call or text him and make him do a challenge. We are in for a fascinating few weeks of TV.”
