Pupils from Brooklands Farm Primary School, near the homebuilder’s Brooklands development on Fen Street, created poems all about what makes their local area special.

After a number of impressive entries, Barratt Homes crowned 8-year-old Mica the winner of the competition, who received a £50 Amazon voucher.

Jenny Hover, Assistant Headteacher at Brooklands Farm Primary School, said: “We were delighted that Barratt Homes asked us to take part in this poetry competition.

“The competition really put the children’s English skills to the test and encouraged them to think about what makes our local area so great.”

The children were allowed to be as creative as they wanted, and Mica’s winning poem was in an acrostic form with the start of each line spelling out ‘Brooklands Farm’.

Alison Raine, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We received a variety of inventive entries as part of the poetry competition and it was a difficult task choosing our winner, however we hope this project has inspired the imaginations of the children involved.

“As a leading housebuilder, it is important to us to engage with the local communities in which we build.”

Brooklands is located in the bustling location of Milton Keynes and is a short drive away from Willen Lake, perfect for family walks.
