YOU WIN AGAIN – COMMEMORATING 20 YEARS SINCE THE BEE GEES’ FINAL PERFORMANCE
When celebrated touring concert show You Win Again hits town in the coming weeks, it brings with it a brand-new production to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the final live performance by Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb as The Bee Gees.
The evening includes a poignant performance of How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, as the cast reflects on the many ups and downs of The Bee Gees’ glittering career.
The cast of You Win Again takes the audience back to the finale of the Love and Hope Charity Ball in Miami Beach in 2002. Barry and Maurice had already performed the Bee Gees’ best-seller Words and a collection of Beatles, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and The Everly Brothers covers when they were joined on stage by Robin.
The reunited trio performed a selection of Bee Gees hits that included To Love Somebody, Jive Talkin’, You Should Be Dancing and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.
“No one knew at the time,” says Martin Spooner, who plays Robin Gibb in You Win Again, “but that would be the last time the Bee Gees would ever be seen performing live on stage as a trio.
“The following year Maurice passed due to complications following surgery. And nine years after that, ill health saw Robin lost to the world.”
You Win Again is an uplifting celebration of the joy the Gibb brothers have brought to music lovers across the globe through their music – including their famous disco hits and the million-selling anthems penned by the Bee Gees for other artistes.
“Indeed,” adds Martin, “the production has been updated, improved and revised in time for the forthcoming performance.
“You Win Again now includes a female lead singer – Eloise Gray – who performs the songs the Gibb brothers wrote for female artistes – including Chain Reaction, Emotion, Heartbreaker and Celine Dione’s Immortality.”
