1 in 10 Londoners are considering refer a friend schemes to save and earn
Utility Warehouse (UW) has today launched a new customer referral scheme putting £4.2* million back into household budgets.
Customers who introduce their friends and family to UW can make crucial savings on their utilities at a time when they need it the most, receiving £50 off their bills with every referral. With no limit on the number of people they can refer, customers could pay off their energy bills by referring multiple customers a month.
The launch comes as UW research reveals that more than one in ten Londoners (12%) are considering using refer-a-friend schemes to save and earn money during these tough times. Some of the most popular word-of-mouth schemes include online clothes shops (58%), grocery delivery services (57%) and phone providers (55%).
However, when looking into where they could easily save, the same proportion (12%) admit they are unsure if their energy or utility provider has a referral scheme.
While nearly a quarter (24%) of Londoners see referral schemes as a great way for both parties to earn and save money, there are some referrers they trust more than others.
Friends are seen as the most trusted, with 48% saying they would take a referral from them.
Just over a third (34%) of Londoners would trust their sister most in the family, closely followed by their mum (33%) and brother (31%).
Wary not to trust everyone, however, over a third (38%) say there’s always one friend they’d never take a referral from.
New customers who sign up to UW using the referral scheme will receive a bill credit depending on the number of services they take. Those who take two services, such as energy and broadband, will receive £100. And new customers who take three services or more, will receive a bill credit of £200.
Stuart Burnett, Co-CEO of Utility Warehouse, said: “At Utility Warehouse we want to reward our customers and help them save more on their bills at a time when they need it the most. That’s why we’ve launched our new customer referral scheme which can help save new and existing customers up to £200 on their bills. When coupled with our existing energy saving of £125 when our services are bundled together, customers can benefit from even bigger reductions on their bills this winter.’
UW’s referral scheme is just one of the many ways the multiservice provider is helping customers save money. UW customers have access to the cheapest energy prices in the market right now at £125 below the Energy Price Guarantee. This is a total saving of £30 million across the year for its energy customers in the UK.
