20 to 39 year olds flocking to coast as Cornwall is top place to live, Census reveals
the first set of the Census 2021 data has been released, and national conveyancing solicitors, Bird & Co, have explored it to find the 10 up-and-coming places young people are living across England.
The research compared the population percentage of each age group in 2021 with the Census results from 2011 to find a percentage increase or decrease. This revealed where 0-19, 20-39, 40-64 and 65+ year olds have congregated over the past decade.
The counties where 20-39 year olds have increased the most, alongside the percentage increase from 2011, were:
Cornwall, 16%
Rutland, 15%
Isle of Wight, 12%
West Berkshire, 11%
Outer London, 9%
More specifically, the data showed that over 1 in 3 citizens living in Cornwall, Rutland, the Isle of Wight and West Berkshire are 20-39 year olds. Meanwhile, 65+ year olds appear to be fleeing these areas.
