Deliveroo launches The Very Hungry Caterpillar Meal Box for World Literacy Day
This World Literacy Day, Deliveroo has teamed up with The Very Hungry Caterpillar to launch a limited edition Very Hungry Caterpillar Meal Box, including a copy of the beloved children’s favourite to get kids reading.
Deliveroo is inviting families to come together to read whilst tucking into a delicious meal box packed with treats inspired by the long list of foods that fill the pages of everybody’s favourite children’s book.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is well-known and loved by children (and adults!) of all ages for munching his way through foods of all shapes, sizes and quantities; from apples and pears, to cherry pie, cupcakes, sausages, cheese, pickles and giant green leaves. Drawing inspiration from The Very Hungry Caterpillar and his favourite snacks, Deliveroo has created a snack box fit for ‘Very Hungry’ kids, keeping tums and minds full as they snack and read along at the same time!
From 8th September for one day only parents can order a feast fit for a caterpillar which includes: The Very Hungry Caterpillar cake with vanilla sponge, edible eyes, nose and legs, a Fruit Salad Smoothie made with all of the Caterpillar’s favourite fruits; strawberries, apples, pears, oranges, watermelons and plums, leaf crisps made with delicious crunchy kale, plus ‘build your own’ The Very Hungry Caterpillar sandwiches filled with beetroot bread, Emmental cheese and sausage – just some of foods the Caterpillar munches on as he hunts along branches and leaves for more!
All boxes, priced at just £2.79, come complete with a copy of the book so children can enjoy their feast alongside the caterpillar and share in the wonder of the delightful story and varied foods with their families. All proceeds will be donated to Action for Children, supporting work helping vulnerable children, young people and their families in the UK.
Aisha Jefferson at Deliveroo said: “We are so excited to be working with The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which is without a doubt one of the most timeless and best-loved children’s books. It’s been a pleasure creating this meal box and weaving in all of the fun, colourful, and of course, delicious elements of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the world he lives in. This World Literacy Day, we’re encouraging families to spend time together with a classic book accompanied by a Caterpillar-inspired feast for everyone to enjoy.”
Charlie Donaldson, Joint Managing Director of Rocket Licensing, brokers of the partnership, said: “We are delighted to be working with Deliveroo on this fun and creative partnership which will satisfy both appetites and hungry minds with its fantastic meal box and classic book offering. We are also very pleased to be supporting Action for Children, a long-term charity partner of The Very Hungry Caterpillar brand, in their hugely valuable work.”
