London-based charity Tree Shepherd has launched a pop-up shop in Brixton Village open from 6th July to 14th July 2022. It is filled with goodies made in South London via home-based and small business.
Tree Shepherd is a South London based charity, working with largely underrepresented groups to help support and empower them to start businesses or become self-employed. It does this via workshops, courses and mentoring.
This pop-up shop is the charities second venture this year with the first hosted in April, and provides members and the community with opportunities to sell their wares in a more traditional shop-front session. Feedback from this, and the markets they have also hosted has been resoundingly positive, with entrepreneurs saying, “hearing feedback about our products have helped us with strategy and confidence to go forward.”
“Starting a business is hard, finding your customers is even harder” says Sandra Ferguson, CEO of Tree Shepherd. “We work with businesses that have limited access to finance to help kick-start their businesses. Despite shops on our high streets being closed or empty, we are finding solutions and giving opportunities to small business owners to have a presence on the high street, which would normally cost tens of thousands of pounds to access. This particularly impacts underrepresented business owners from growing their businesses to thrive, so we are working towards bridging the gap.”

“Opening in an exclusive location is a dream for all makers, and these Tree Shepherd pop-up shops help us build out business and trade.” Says Martina from @makieitstudiolonodon

She goes on to add, ‘We are all very happy to be part of this project -working alongside the most loving people that are also Glows members. Tree Shepherd has provided this amazing opportunity, and we are all so grateful for this chance to grow our businesses’.
Businesses showcased at the pop-up include:
– @makeitstudiolondon for quirky kimonos and maxi tote bags
– @imazinaturals for all your vegan natural skincare needs
– @heart_in_art-workshops for the brightest and most joyful mosaics.
– @y_kairos for simply the most bright and cheerful sustainable childrenswear
– @uappymeappyludi the master of Ludi boards
– @dflicorish for card and board games, and
– @scenecoveredmedia with his amazing and captivating photography
The pop-up shop can be found in Brixton Market, near the Granville Arcade entrance, it is open from 12pm to 6pm and closes on Thursday 14th July 2022.
