Partners sought on the ground at COP28, this year’s UN climate summit

Partner organisations are being sought by food awareness organisation, ProVeg International, to help promote food system change at the annual UN climate summit, COP28, which this year takes place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 15 partner organisations have already signed up to join ProVeg at its Pavilion at COP28 from 30 November to 12 December, where delegates from nearly 200 countries will have the chance to hear how transitioning to plant-rich diets can play a huge role in tackling climate change.

The Pavilion will serve as a space to host events, as well as provide a showcase for expert discussions and facilitate engagement with a diverse group of COP stakeholders on topics such as agricultural climate mitigation and adaptation solutions.

The benefits of being a partner

Pavilion partners will benefit from increased recognition and visibility during COP28 – both offsite and onsite – and will have opportunities to speak about food system transformation and the climate impact of our diet.

“Partners are also invited to provide input on events and discussions that could be included in the Pavilion programme,” Juliette Tronchon, Senior Policy and Public Affairs Specialist at ProVeg said.

“Depending on your organisation’s desired level of involvement, there are plenty of other opportunities you might consider as well,” Tronchon said.

The launch of the Pavilion at COP27 last year, alongside other food system Pavilions, was groundbreaking because it signified recognition at UN-level of the relationship between climate change and food production.

ProVeg International is gearing up to build on the success of last year’s Pavilion and further emphasise the need to make the shift towards plant-rich diets, adopt sustainable and resilient agricultural practices, and reduce food loss and waste.

Current partner organisations in the Pavilion this year include: World Animal Protection, A Well-Fed World, Humane Society International, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, Four Paws, Food Tank, Mercy For Animals, the Jeremy Coller Foundation, Compassion in World Farming, Upfield, Impossible Foods, the MENA Youth Network, Young Professionals for Agricultural Development, the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences, and the YOUNGO Food and Agriculture Working Group.
