New Starbucks sales data reveals UK’s favourite coffees, with results showing a clear preference for simple, timeless classics.
It seems that when it comes to everyday luxuries, less is more – with refined, simple pleasures leading the charge in the UK’s coffee culture.
With the Latte coming out on top, followed by a Cappuccino and Americano, the rankings are based on total product quantity sold in the past year* offering a clear snapshot of how coffee lovers in UK prefer their daily brew.

While Starbucks is known for innovation, from iconic seasonal favourites like the Pumpkin Spice Latte to Frappuccinos, the data shows that the classics continue to dominate. The latte proved particularly dominant, selling three times as many cups as its nearest rival, the cappuccino – underlining its rightful place as the nation’s go-to coffee.

UK’s Top Five Starbucks Coffees
Latte – A smooth blend of espresso and steamed milk
Cappuccino –A balanced mix of espresso, steamed milk, and foam, offering a rich and frothy texture
Americano – A classic espresso topped with hot water for a long, smooth coffee with a lighter body
Flat White – Velvety micro-foam blended with espresso, giving a strong yet silky coffee experience
Iced Latte – Espresso poured over ice with cold milk for a refreshing and smooth taste, enjoyed all year round and especially during the warmer months

Looking more regionally, the data also highlights how tastes differ across UK cities. In London and Edinburgh, the Latte and Cappuccino lead as they do nationally, whereas the slightly elevated coffee orders such as the Mocha and Espresso Macchiato prove popular in Liverpool, Manchester and Aberdeen.

Starbucks proudly sources 100% arabica coffee from more than 450,000 farmers in 30 markets along “The Coffee Belt” in Latin America, Asia Pacific and Africa. The coffee is then handcrafted by Starbucks baristas to ensure every cup reflects Starbucks commitment to excellent coffee.

Bernardin Malou, Vice President of Coffee & Retail Operations at Starbucks EMEA comments, “At Starbucks we know our customers value the craft behind each cup. While Starbucks is renowned for its beverage innovation, this data shows that customers in the UK still see Starbucks as leading in core coffee classics, done well. The results underscore what Starbucks customers value most: quality, craftsmanship, and a delicious cup that fits seamlessly into their daily routines and rituals.”

This month sees International Coffee Day (1 October), a global celebration established by the International Coffee Organisation to honour the people and communities behind every cup, from bean to brew. In recognition of this, Starbucks extends the spirit of celebration throughout October with its Global Month of Coffee, spotlighting the beverage, the craft, and the baristas who make each cup special.

Coffee across the continent shows that espresso-based drinks remain fan favourites. Whilst Spain and France also favour the Latte, Germany has crowed the Cappuccino as the top selling Starbucks coffee, with Italy opting for an Espresso shot as their order of choice.

Throughout October, Starbucks stores across the UK will celebrate Global Month of Coffee with opportunities for customers to learn more about the craft behind their favourite brews, and perhaps even discover a new one.
