String Furniture, the Scandinavian design icon since 1949, and global media company, Monocle, are delighted to announce their second collaboration: the Museum Sidetable in an exclusive colour – Olive.

Monocle X String, Museum Sidetable, Olive, £225

The Museum Sidetable was designed for String Furniture by the Stockholm-based TAF Studio for Sweden’s Nationalmuseum as part of its reopening in 2018. Crafted of fine-textured, coated aluminum and steel, the sleek height-adjustable sidetable measures 24cm in width, 30cm in depth, and 76.4cm in height. With a distinct expression and functionality, thanks to its adjustable height between 32 and 73cm, the Museum Sidetable is a singular table designed for any space and any place.

Mattias Ståhlbom, architect, TAF Studio, states, “For the Josef Frank exhibition, we needed a strong table with a light and balanced character that wouldn’t outshine the objects put upon it. We used our experience from the Swedish National Museum and the Museum Sidetable was born: softly rounded corners and a base of solid stability, still light enough to move at anytime.”

In October 2025, String and Monocle are delighted to launch the Museum Sidetable in a new earthy olive green.

Tyler Brûlé, Monocle’s founder and editorial director, states, “String has become part of Monocle’s design story and its products and systems are found in all our outposts around the world. The addition of the Museum Table, in our signature olive, is to become an anchor within our housewares collection.”

“Many of us at String are devoted readers of Monocle magazine,” says Bo Hellberg, CMO of String Furniture. “We’re proud to announce our second collaboration, unveiling the iconic Museum Sidetable in an exclusive new colourway for Monocle.”
