Road rage hotspots revealed: Kent tops the list, Gen Z most likely to lose their cool
New research from Saga Car Insurance reveals the UK’s biggest road rage hotspots and who’s most likely to lose their cool behind the wheel.
Kent tops the list as England’s most road rage-inducing area, with an average of 6,143 roadworks annually.
Hounslow, London, has the highest traffic density, with almost 1.9 million cars per kilometre of road each year.
Younger drivers are far more prone to road rage with 60% of Gen Z experiencing it weekly, compared to 32% of Baby Boomers.
Swearing (46%) and rude gestures (30%) are the most common road rage behaviours among UK drivers.
A new road rage campaign from Saga car insurance has analysed government road data to reveal the most road rage inducing areas in the country. Additional survey data also reveals who feels it the most and an anger management expert explains what to do if you are getting angry behind the wheel.
Kent revealed as England’s road rage hotspot
Saga analysed five years of government traffic and roadworks data to rank the areas most likely to trigger road rage.
Kent was found to be the most road rage inducing area for drivers in the UK, also topping the rankings for highest number of roadworks with more than 6,000 reported roadworks on average annually.
The London borough of Hounslow was found to have the highest traffic density of anywhere in the country, with almost two-million drivers passing through the area per kilometre of road.
One of the most surprising appearances in the top five was the Yorkshire borough of Kirklees. It’s one of the more rural areas in the rankings and has the lowest traffic density among the top ten. Yet, Kirklees still faces more than 4,000 roadworks on average each year.
