North Yorkshire Moors Railway welcomes back the thrilling Mad Alice Ghost Train

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has announced the return of the Mad Alice Ghost Train services on 18th and 25th October and 1st November. This immersive event gives guests the chance to discover the darker, haunted side of the North York Moors, led by the infamous Mad Alice from The Bloody Tour of York.

Visitors can step aboard if they dare and journey through darkness from Pickering to Levisham and back, encountering live actors and spooky tales, plus the chance to discover the mysterious ghosts that still haunt the carriages and stations.

The hour-long event includes live storytelling from Mad Alice alongside her ghostly friends, creating a haunting Victorian Gothic atmosphere as darkness falls. The eerie experience features a unique retelling of Charles Dickens’ ‘The Signalman’, a ghost story inspired by a deadly train crash the author witnessed firsthand. Guests aged 18+ will receive a mini Mad Alice York Gin & Tonic, courtesy of York Gin – with soft drink options also available.

Mad Alice is one of York’s most infamous and enduring legends who is said to haunt the ancient alleyways of York. On this experience, she takes the stage as the host and narrative anchor of the evening with a tragic, theatrical and distinctly Yorkshire story.

Mad Alice added: “The beautiful North York Moors is the perfect backdrop for an evening of spooks and scares. Visitors who are brave enough to join can expect a gripping atmosphere full of ghoulish stories and spooky theatrics. Those who are easily spooked can steady their nerves with a tipple from York Gin!”

For those brave enough, the event dates are 18th and 25th October and 1st November at 6:15pm-7:15pm or 8pm-9pm. Tickets are priced at £40 for adults and £35 for under-18s (minimum age 14).
