An adopted Londoner is aiming to enhance the lives of thousands of Kenyan children with the launch of a major new funding and development initiative.

Moses Tai, who has lived in London for 10 years, is realising a lifetime ambition with the start of his non-profit African Development Choices that will develop and empower citizen participation to make the choices that will most benefit local communities.

He has purposely chosen today – #GivingTuesday – to announce the launch as this global movement, founded in 2012, unites communities and nations across the world to celebrate and support giving and philanthropy and following the waves of seismic spending on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The primary aim of African Development Choices is the delivery of essential public goods and services such as clean water, basic sanitary facilities and child-friendly facilities like playgrounds.

Having grown up in Kenya, the 39-year-old has first-hand experience of the issues that affect Kenyan communities including the lack of public facilities, which he attributes to poor decisions by leaders and a lack of consultation with the community.

Tai, who has a successful career as an IT Contractor in the UK, is aiming to make a major impact and improve the lives of the children and adults in these communities.

The launch of the charity and dedicated website – www.itsthechoices.org – aims to raise awareness of the issues, deliver projects that make a difference and secure ongoing funding to carry out future initiatives.

The ambition is to deliver more than 100 schools and community projects a year, improving the lives of more than 100,000 children in the process.

Tai will drive the cause and its projects and has already identified the first one – a showcase clean water, sanitation and playground project in Nyansakia II DOK Primary School, which is located in Kisii County, Kenya.
