Anchor Wins HealthInvestor UK Senior Housing Award 2021

Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life, has been announced as winner at the 2021 HealthInvestor UK Senior Housing Awards in the Small Development of the Year category. Anchor was also a finalist in the Senior Housing Operator of the Year category.

The awards ceremony took place on 21st October at the Landmark Hotel London and celebrated excellence and achievement in the housing-with-care and retirement housing sectors.

Anchor won the Small Development of the Year award for their housing development Walrond House located in Newington Green in Hackney.

Working closely with Hackney Council, the Greater London Assembly and the local community, Anchor completed the development in August 2020. Walrond House provides truly intergenerational living under one roof with 72 residential apartments, of which 28 are social homes exclusively for those aged over 55, 12 shared ownership and 32 outright sale non-age restricted apartments. The development offers double the number of homes on the previous site and includes the regeneration of three retail units and a new resource centre to meet the community’s needs.

Nick Hodgskin, Senior Development Manager at Anchor, said: “We’re delighted to have won Small Development of the Year at HealthInvestor UK’s 2021 Senior Housing Awards! Walrond House is a unique redevelopment project which has had a huge impact on many different groups.

“Winning the award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues at Anchor who create places where people love living in later life.”
