ANNINGTON HELPS PROVIDE A GREEN CHRISTMAS FOR PATIENTS AND STAFF AT YEOVIL HOSPITAL

Research from the Carbon Trust[1] shows that around 40kg of greenhouse gas emissions are produced by a single 6.5ft artificial tree, meaning it would have to last at least ten Christmases to become more environmentally friendly than purchasing a real tree each year. With this in mind, Annington, the company responsible for refurbishing a selection of two-bedroom maisonettes and flats in nearby Ilchester, has donated a real Christmas tree to Yeovil Hospital for patients to enjoy, sourced locally from Brimsmore Garden Centre.

The real Christmas tree – situated outside the main hospital entrance – helped kickstart festive celebrations and was topped off with solar powered twinkling lights.

Louise Saunders, Sales and Marketing Manager at Annington, comments: “This Christmas, we wanted to bring some of the holiday spirit to Yeovil Hospital. This donation is just a small way in which we’ve been able to thank staff at the hospital for all their hard work, as well as providing festive cheer to the patients. Annington would also like to encourage those who can, to buy a real tree to help improve the world’s sustainability and reduce our carbon emissions.”

Sarah Cherry, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Yeovil Hospital, added: “There is no doubt that the last couple of years has been extremely challenging for staff in hospitals across the country. Knowing we have the support of our local community and businesses does give us a much-needed boost and we would like to say thank you to the team at Annington for choosing to donate a Christmas tree to our hospital. This donation is much appreciated and is being enjoyed by everyone walking through to Yeovil Hospital’s main entrance; patients and staff alike.”

Currently available is a selection of two-bedroom maisonettes and flats starting from £115,000. For more information about the homes available in Ilchester, please contact the selling agent via www.fox-and-sons.co.uk or call 01935 412100.
