AUTUMN STATEMENT REACTION from tech company CEO Pete Sayburn, of marketing agency matchmaker Studiospace
The Autumn Statement does little to help the U.K. technology and creative sector, but “not all doom and gloom” according to Peter Sayburn, CEO of technology business Studiospace.
“As a fast-growing tech business, what we need is unrestricted access to markets, talent and capital. Today’s statement does little to directly help the tech sector, and the increases in NI and VAT are tough, but this doesn’t undermine our prospects, either.
“The politicians can talk all they like about growth, but the reality is that growth is the result of new job creation, investment in intellectual property and competitiveness in a global digital economy.
“The energy windfall tax may well deter potential overseas investors and could impact UK exports, but should be seen as a one-off exceptional event. I’m more concerned about the reduced R&D incentives and lack of explicit support for a low-carbon economy – this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to lead the world and secure a sustainable future.”
