BROOKS DYE WORKS WINS BEST RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT AT THE BRISTOL PROPERTY AWARDS 2021

Brooks Dye Works, the £40m (GDV) transformation of a Victorian dye works into a new neighbourhood of homes, has been awarded Best Residential Development at the renowned Bristol Property Awards 2021. The new homes developed by Acorn Property Group, in conjunction with Galliard Homes are adding to an already vibrant community in St Werburghs, with Phase 1 and 2 of the scheme fully reserved and many residents now moved in.

Hosted on Friday 12th November, the annual awards celebrated the very best in the property industry in Bristol, bringing together everyone from landowners to interior designers to construction specialists. This year’s success for Brooks Dye Works for Galliard and Acorn follows the now sold-out scheme Brandon Yard, another joint development from the partners which won Best Residential Development in 2019.

Brooks Dye Works is the redevelopment of a historic dye and laundry works, a Victorian family-owned factory that operated for 135 years. The four-acre industrial site had lain vacant for over a decade after the factory closed in 1997. The development is centred around the dye works iconic nineteenth-century chimney, with new open public space being created alongside pedestrian routes to link with Mina Road Park and surrounding area.

Earlier this year, Brooks Dye Works was visited by Mayor Marvin Rees, to celebrate Bristol City Council purchasing 24 affordable homes at the development which will form part of the city’s social rent housing stock. 80% of the purchasers are from Bristol, with the majority of those being existing residents from BS2, Montpellier and Bishopston, local to the new development.

Robin Squire, Regional Managing Director at Acorn Property Group’s Bristol Office commented: “We are pleased to be able to deliver a scheme which not only addresses the need for new homes in the area, but focuses on sustainability and wellbeing by bringing a disused site back into use and improves access to public space for the local area. We are delighted that Brooks Dye Works has been awarded Best Residential Development at the Bristol Property Awards, it was a fierce category with fantastic competitors. There are many great new homes schemes in Bristol so to be recognised as the best is an honour.”

George Baffoe-Djan, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Galliard Homes says: “We are so proud of the new neighbourhood being created at Brooks Dye Works, which is bringing sought-after contemporary homes to the St Werburghs area. The teams at Galliard and Acorn have been working incredibly hard to bring the scheme to life and it is wonderful to see this effort recognised at the Bristol Property Awards.”
