Bubbles and Bakes: Care Home Celebrates Macmillan with Afternoon Showcase
Care Home Swaps Coffee for Bubbles and live music, and raises £95.60 for Charity.
Residents and staff at Westgate House Care Home ditched the traditional coffee morning in favour of a sparkling afternoon of live entertainment to raise funds for a fantastic course.
The special event traded standard tea and coffee for fresh bubbles and baked treats, bringing a lively atmosphere to the home. Guests and residents were treated to a sparkling afternoon of live entertainment from Musical Theatre performer Rebecca Jane, singing musical classics such as somewhere Over the rainbow from wizard of Oz and Cheek to Cheek from Top Hat and many more songs to get everyone singing, dancing and creating beautiful memories along the way.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the afternoon raised a fantastic £95.60 to help everyone effected by cancer.
Residents enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives, and members of the local community. Head chef, Sandra had baked a variety of melt in your mouth cakes and biscuits- that were absolutely delicious.
Westgate’s House Fundraising showcase was a huge success – and managed to raise £95.60 and, most importantly, everyone had a great time doing it!
Lavina Istrate General Manager at Westgate House Care Home, said: “We wanted to do something a little different this year, and swapping our traditional coffee morning to create a vibrant afternoon with music, cakes and prosecco was a huge hit. Rebecca Jane gave a wonderful performance, and we are so grateful to everyone who donated to help us raise such a fantastic total.
Jillian a resident at the home, commented: “MacMillan is such a fantastic charity and they do such amazing work in the community, we all love raising money for them and the best bit is, we watched music and get to eat cake at the same time!”
