Buckingham Parish Church Foodbank partners with local housebuilder this Christmas

According to The Childhood Trust, 250,000 children in the UK will go hungry this Christmas with nearly a fifth of families worried about not being able to afford Christmas dinner*. To help support residents in Buckingham from some of their financial burdens, Barratt Homes has donated £1,000 to the Buckinghamshire Parish Church’s Foodbank as part of its Community Fund initiative.

The Buckingham Parish Church Foodbank distributes non-perishable and fresh food in Buckingham and the surrounding villages with their team of volunteers delivering supplies either directly to residents homes, or confidentially through referral agencies. In addition to food, the charity also provides items such as nappies, toiletries and female sanitary products, alongside helping to support residents through short-term emergencies such a sudden unemployment or loss of benefits.

The housebuilder, who is building new homes at its St Rumbold’s Fields development in Buckingham, will see its donation go towards supporting food parcels over the festive period alongside ensuring the foodbank has a secure supply of resources for their beneficiaries.

Reverend Will Pearson-Gee, Rector at the Buckingham Parish Church Foodbank, said: “This year we are expecting high rates of referral of residents in the area so appreciate any support that businesses can give to help make sure no one goes hungry this Christmas. We thank Barratt North Thames for its generous donation which will be incredibly helpful in providing festive additions to our food parcels as well as supporting the running of our community support projects.”

Karly Williams, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt North Thames, commented: “We are proud to be supporting the Buckingham Parish Church Foodbank who have been working tirelessly with residents to give any extra help they can. Christmas can be a very stressful time so we hope our donation will go towards relieving some of that anxiety and help residents enjoy the festive period with their families.”
