CARE HOME HISTORIANS CLUB GROWS FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
Barchester Healthcare care home Magnolia Court located in Golders Green run a monthly ‘historians club’ where residents and relatives alike attend the wonderful informative sessions held by Colin Gillespie – and the club explore previous times and test each other’s knowledge on times gone by. These sessions have grown from strength to strength and residents in the home often amaze themselves on their ability to have recollections of famous events and people in history.
The club led by Colin has the following aims which is to keep our minds healthy and active through reminiscence and recall but above all else the club is held so that the residents have a sense of camaraderie and ultimately have fun.
Wayne Hughes, General Manager of Magnolia Court Care Home said: “The impact of the sessions are truly remarkable where even I was able to recall the names and catchphrases of some celebrities in the early 1920’s.”
