CQ Studio – New sustainable pop-up opens in the West End
CQ Studio, a fashion research studio that focuses on using regenerative materials and systems of production, gets an exciting retail opportunity from Westminster City Council to showcase its forward-thinking brand direct to consumers at 12 Piccadilly Arcade.
CQ Studio creates textiles from various biological sources, including flax, food waste and algae, whilst utilising multiple technologies to create unique textures and properties.
The pop-up will become a live studio, where you can come by and watch the magic as it happens. It intends to introduce and engage the public with the many projects and work that CQ is conducting in the field of Fashion and Innovation.
Each section within the space will guide you through the processes involved within CQ Studio and demonstrate the multifaceted business built over the last few years.
Projects that will be on display include; live microalgae growing in bioreactors, natural dye experimentation, and bio-sequin creation, Inflaxuation, regeneratively grown flax creates a wide range of Flax Leather and Flax Fur alternatives, and Excessories, a project that removes contaminant particles from textile wastewater to create biodegradable sequins.
There will be a number of workshops held at the studio for anyone who would like to learn more about the method and take part in the processes; tickets are available to purchase on Eventbrite.
Cassie founder of CQ Studio:
“I want to demonstrate that fashion can be a powerful force for good and I promise you won’t be disappointed by the exciting textiles we have to share!”
