With most of the UK summer destinations already fully booked or charging vastly inflated rates for accommodation, this week sees the opening of an unexpected location to take a holiday – at a London health and fitness club. David Lloyd Clubs, the UK’s leading health, fitness and spa, will for the first time be offering overnight stays with a luxury, all-inclusive, glamping retreat in at a leafy location in Hampton.

Visitors can experience everything they’d look for from a holiday resort; a luxurious spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, kids club, tennis, a 9-hole golf course, plus dining and cocktails – with overnight accommodation in a pop-up glamping site.

Taking place at David Lloyd Hampton this week (9th to 15th August), Glamp @ David Lloyd Clubs features six luxury bell tents, each sleeping up to five for two-night stays. As the breaks are part of this initial trial run, have been gifted to those who have gone above and beyond to help others in the pandemic, and those who deserve it the most. A number of breaks have also been gifted to The Captain Tom Foundation, who have arranged for extra special guests such as superstar fundraisers Betty-Leigh Allinson (age 6), Archie Tunstill (age 8) and Lewis Whele (age 5) to attend with their families.

The VIP staycation will include all meals and unlimited house wine, beer and cocktails; a champagne welcome reception on the terrace; a welcome pack including marshmallows to be enjoyed around the fire pit, plus live entertainment. Access to David Lloyd Hampton is also included, where glampers can work up a sweat in the state-of-the-art gym, make a splash in the outdoor and indoor pools, or while away an afternoon in the tranquil spa garden. The club also offers a wide range of summer activities for all the family including gin tasting evenings for adults and burger-making classes for the kids.

Steph Holland, head of lifestyle products at David Lloyd Clubs comments:

“Members think of us as a holiday home on their doorstep and, with so much confusion and disappointment around travel this year, the creation of a pop-up Glamp @ David Lloyd Clubs site is a natural extension of this holiday experience.

“Guests over the coming week will be starting their day with a morning workout or yoga session, be able to laze by the pool with a book while the children play at the kids club, have a healthy lunch, followed by a pampering session in the spa and then a round of golf or tennis before dinner. It’s everything you’d look for in a five-star holiday, without the air miles, expense or need to quarantine on return.”

“As part of our commitment to community, health and wellness, it was important to us to extend this first-time experience to deserving people were impacted by the events of the past 18 months. Whether they have been hard hit in one way or another, or have gone above and beyond for their community, every guest staying at the Glamp @ David Lloyd Clubs site so deserves this holiday and we’re delighted to have them here to try out our very first summer break. If successful we’ll be considering rolling it out across our clubs – after all, what’s more beneficial for your mental wellbeing than a holiday!”
